Crisis Response | Humboldt County has lost too many lives to suicide. Our therapists are trained to support you, or someone you know who is considering suicide. You can access crisis response services by contacting our office at 623-1888 or by asking a first responder to contact someone at our office. |
Family Therapy | We believe wellness occurs in the context of the family. Family therapy includes couples counseling and family counseling. It is a branch of psychotherapy that works with families and couples in intimate relationships to nurture change and development. Through family therapy you will work on enhancing interactions between family members. |
Individual Therapy | Individual services will support your emotional needs. A caring, therapeutic relationship between yourself and your therapist will be at the core of the work you do at The Family Support Center. Therapists employ a range of therapeutic interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness based cognitive therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or a combination of these. Individual therapy options also include play therapy for children. |
Substance Abuse Counseling | If you find yourself struggling with drugs or alcohol in your life, The Family Support Center offers substance use counselors to support you in your recovery. Counselors can help you learn how to modify your behavior with the intention of full recovery. |
Group Treatment | Group therapy is a shared therapeutic experience that involves the presence of a trained professional and others working on similar needs. Group treatment can focus on interpersonal relationships, substance use recovery or domestic violence. Groups may be closed (a scheduled list of attendees each week) or open (drop in). |
