| Celebrating Families!™ | Celebrating Families!TM is an evidence based cognitive behavioral, support group model written for families in which one or both parents have a serious problem with alcohol or other drugs and in which there is a high risk for domestic violence, child abuse, or neglect. This program works with every family member to strengthen recovery from alcohol and/or other drugs to break the cycle of addiction and increase successful family reunification. Many of our staff members are facilitators for the program, including our drug and alcohol counselors. |
| Co-Parenting Education | We offer a program called Two Families Now. This curriculum is evidence-based and educates parents regarding the impact of parental conflict on their child’s development. The program helps parents identify their contribution to conflict while increasing impulse control. Other topics include anger management, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Learning and applying co-parenting skills increases the likelihood of keeping two parents active in a child’s life. |
| Parent Coaching | Parent Coaching is for parents that need help being a more effective parent. This service includes tips, nurturing techniques, help gathering resources, and recognizing age appropriate behaviors. Parent coaching usually lasts for 1 to 6 sessions, which are conducted by Val Teichert. Every session customized to meet the specific needs of the family. It is important to note that this is not therapy, but coaching to help parents achieve their goals. |
| Monitored Visitation | Monitored Visitation is offered at Family Support Center. We monitor visits for families involved in the child welfare system in partnership with the Department of Child and Family Services. We also monitor visits for families with shared custody. Thanks to grant funding, we will soon have two spaces dedicated to monitored visitation services. One area for families with young children, and another for families with older children so that everyone has the opportunity to spend time together comfortably. |
